Tararua Community Services is a trusted and valued part of the Tararua community. Guided by our commitment to te oranga ake – flourishing together, we support individuals and whānau to live with dignity, connection and purpose.
As a Community Social Worker, you’ll support older people and community members to stay connected, safe and independent. You’ll build strong relationships, assess needs, and work alongside individuals and whānau to develop practical plans that enhance wellbeing.
You’ll also connect people with services, programmes and supports, working closely with community partners to reduce isolation and enhance wellbeing. This is meaningful, relationship-based mahi where your compassion, advocacy and ability to connect will have a lasting impact.
This is a permanent role working 32 hours per week based in Dannevirke.
Ngā pūkenga me te wheako | Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A recognised Social Work qualification and registration (or eligibility for registration)
- Experience in community or social services, ideally working with older people
- Warmth, empathy and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships
- Confidence working with whānau, community groups and partner agencies
- An understanding of Te Ao Māori, with a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Strong communication, planning and organisational skills
- A full, clean NZ driver licence

Tararua Community Services is part of Anglican Care Waiapu (ACW) – the social services arm of the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu. We provide a range of faith-based services to tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and older people across Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti, Hawke’s Bay and Tararua.
