About the Kauri Centre:

The Kauri Centre is a community centre for fellowship and friendship for older people. We provide day programmes, social outings, fun, and pastoral care to support our members to live in and participate in their community.

About the Role:

We have an excellent opportunity available for an experienced Programme Co-Ordinator to join our team at the Kauri Centre. You will be responsible for the delivery of an age-related recreational day programme and contribute to the running of the Centre across a range of organisational tasks and processes including administration and management. The role is 40 hours per week, Monday through to Friday – at two locations, one in Pāpāmoa and the other in Te Puke.

You will be responsible for:

  • High quality delivery of daily programmes ensuring the needs of clients are met
  • Planning, organising, coordinating and evaluating day programmes that provide mental, physical, social and emotional stimulation
  • Planning and leading activities and outings
  • Set up and pack down of equipment and furniture
  • Actively supporting and encouraging clients to safely participate in activities
  • Driving centre vans to pick up and drop off clients
  • Administration

What We Are Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who has a real passion for working within the older person sector. You will be well organised, can plan and multitask, and enjoy working with a wonderful team. You will be flexible and adaptable as no two days are the same.

You will be practical, outgoing, friendly and the sort of person who enjoys a good chat with the members (who always have amazing stories to tell). You will also need a good team spirit, and great communication who thrives on being part of a great team culture that lives the organisations values.

Skills/experience:

  • A full, clean drivers’ licence is a must for this role, due to the transportation of clients and other driving duties that are required of this role
  • Previous practical experience in coordinating or working in a day programme for older people or similar
  • A warm and caring personality
  • Strong values that align with Anglican Care Waiapu
  • A clean criminal record and NZ residency
  • An understanding of the needs of older people
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Impeccable documentation and reporting abilities
  • Administration and/or financial management experience desirable
  • First Aid certificate or nursing experience is essential
