Anglican Care Waiapu (ACW), is the social services arm of the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu. Our services and programmes in the Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti, Hawke’s Bay and Tararua support tamariki, whānau, and communities with early childhood education, family support, grief services, and older people programmes.
Tararua Community Services is a community-connected social service with offices in Dannevirke, Pahiatua and Woodville. We provide social work, whānau support, parenting programmes, maternity support, youth mentoring, family harm response, safer seniors services, counselling and community-led initiatives to help people take positive action in their lives.
This role is all about working with young people, supporting them as they navigate challenges in life. Therefore, you must have a natural ability to form strong and meaningful relationships which are underpinned by your passion for supporting youth to be the best version of themselves.
You’ll be a warm, empathetic person who connects easily with people from all walks of life. Success in this role requires energy, creativity, and a genuine passion for supporting others. With your ‘can-do’ attitude, you’ll thrive in a dynamic team environment, planning and delivering support plans and programmes that make a real difference.
As part of our Counselling Practice team, you will bring experience, skills and knowledge that land for young people who are struggling with their wellbeing, trauma histories and life circumstances. You’ll need to be open minded and tenacious, with the ability to build effective community networks. Experience facilitating programmes to small groups is also an advantage.
Our next Youth Mentor will bring humour, integrity and a drive to make a difference for the community of Tararua. You must enjoy being part of a team and contributing positively to the work environment by aligning with our organisational values.
Key Requirements
- A social work degree, or relevant qualification in an associated field, is essential.
- Experience working with young people and their whānau
- Experience working in a bicultural and/or multi-cultural context
- An affinity with the mission and values of Anglican Care Waiapu
- Strong organisational and communication skills
